Ein Airbus A330 mit 210 Passagieren an Bord musste in New York den Start abbrechen, weil vier andere Flugzeuge die Piste querten. Das wird nun untersucht.

Als die A330 der Swiss bereits eine Startfreigabe erhalten hatte, querten gleich mehrere andere Flugzeuge die Startbahn.

Die Schweizerische Sicherheitsuntersuchungsstelle (Sust) informiert über einen Vorfall in New York. Am Mittwoch, 17. April, um 22.46 Uhr Schweizer Zeit, wollte ein Flugzeug der Swiss ab dem John-F.-Kennedy-Flughafen starten. Zum gleichen Zeitpunkt allerdings querten zwei Flugzeuge von Delta, eines von American Airlines und eines von Republic die Startbahn. 20 min.ch hatte zuerst über den Vorfall berichtet.

Die Cockpitcrew des Airbus A330 der Swiss brach den Start sofort ab. Gemäss Daten des Online-Trackingservices Flightradar24.com hatte das Flugzeug bereits eine Geschwindigkeit von mehr als 70 km/h erreicht. In der Sust-Notiz wird dies bestätigt: Es seien sogar 50 Knoten gewesen, was 92,6 km/h entspricht.

Die Startfreigabe war erteilt worden, und die Swiss-Maschine HB-JHD war etwa 500 Meter weit gekommen, als sich die heikle Situation abspielte. Die tiefste Distanz zwischen den beiden Flugzeugen habe rund 1400 Meter betragen, heisst es in der Sust-Notiz weiter.

Die amerikanische Sicherheitsbehörde untersucht

Die Untersuchung wurde eröffnet von der amerikanischen National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Der Vorfall wurde als schwer klassiert. An Bord der Swiss-Maschine waren 210 Passagiere und 12 Crewmitglieder, davon 2 im Cockpit.

Das Flugzeug nahm die nächstmögliche Ausfahrt von der Piste, rollte eine Runde und startete schliesslich um 22.47 Uhr Schweizer Zeit. Der Flug verlief regulär und landete um 6.26 Uhr in Kloten.
