birds bakery revamped store with 'farmhouse-style' decor given opening date

A sketch showing how the new store will look

Beloved East Midlands bakery brand, Birds, will be reopening one of its Derby stores following a major rebrand. The Allestree branch at Park Farm Shopping Centre will be selling wares out of a fresh-looking store that has undergone a major renovation and will be reopened next week.

Back in January, the bakers announced it would be adopting a new colour palette, featuring a vibrant “spring green” that bosses say encapsulates its “Fresh as a Daisy” ethos of baking from fresh each day. The Allestree branch is the second site that has seen the change out of the 61 locations across the East Midlands, following the Ashby-de-la-Zouch branch.

The spring green colour scheme, paired with a “warm grey”, is an example of how the brand aims to modernise its stores while paying a nod to its long history. The Park Farm store also has undergone major refurbishments within the store itself, adopting a “farmhouse-style” decor, a spokesperson for the brand has said.

The spokesperson added: “A focal point of the redesign is a spacious farmhouse table that will be adorned with rustic crates and boxes, this will showcase an array of delectable sweet and savoury treats for customers to purchase. Recognising Allestree as a popular destination for family outings and leisurely walks, with attractions like Darley Park and Markeaton Park nearby, the revamped store will also boast a newly designed seating area, inviting customers to take a break from their walk and savour their favourite Birds products in the warm and cosy atmosphere that the store offers.

The new packaging will be rolled out across all 61 stores in the coming months, meaning customers across the East Midlands can get a feel for the new brand before their local store is updated. Commenting on the ongoing rebrand journey, Jamie Bird, strategy director at Birds Bakery, said: “We’re really proud of the new look and feel of our Park Farm store. The farmhouse-style decor creates a welcoming feel and the additional seating gives our customers even more ways to enjoy their new Birds store.

“We’ve heard from some of our loyal Allestree costumes about how excited they are to see the new store, with others speculating where the rebrand will pop up next – they’ll have to keep their eyes peeled!”
