Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt is bullish on the potential of Ohio State’s defense in 2024.
Following the Buckeyes’ Scarlet vs. Gray spring game on Saturday, Klatt shared his positive outlook on their defense.
“I would be pretty surprised if they’re not the best defense in the country,” Klatt said during “The Joel Klatt Show: A CFB Pod.”
Several members of Ohio State’s 2023 defense, which ranked second in the country in points allowed per game (11.2), decided to forgo the NFL Draft and return to Columbus for the 2024 campaign.
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day also added former Alabama defensive back Caleb Downs, who entered the transfer portal following former Tide head coach Nick Saban’s retirement.
“They’re gonna be fantastic on the back end,” Klatt said, pointing to a secondary that includes corner Denzel Burke and safety Lathan Ransom.
If his prediction is correct, Ohio State will have a strong shot of winning its first Big Ten title since 2020.
