Aker Solutions wins offshore wind contract worth 3 billion kroner

Aker Solutions wins offshore wind contract worth 3 billion kroner

The oil services company Aker Solutions has signed a major contract to supply electricity to a major offshore wind project. The value of the contract is at least NOK 3 billion.

The contract will include design, procurement, construction, and installation of an offshore converter platform, they wrote in a press release.

Such platforms convert alternating current into direct current before it is sent to the power grid on land. This is necessary for wind farms that are far out at sea, E24 writes.

The work will start immediately, and the installation is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024. The final delivery is planned for the second half of 2025, newspaper Finansavisen reports.

The company writes that the customer and their partners will announce more details about the project during the third quarter of 2021.
