In response to customer feedback, Akasa Air has raised the weight limit for pets traveling in the cabin to 10 kilograms, including the weight of the container, up from the previous limit of 7 kilograms.
Over 3,200 pets flown since launch
Akasa Air has transported over 3,200 pets as part of its pet-travel service since its inception in November 2022, the airline said.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline emphasized that this improvement highlights its dedication to consistently enhance its services to align with the changing requirements of travelers.

15-day validity period for pet travel certificates
Additionally, the airline has implemented a prolonged validity period of 15 days for travel certificates issued for pets, providing customers with increased flexibility, particularly beneficial for those embarking on short-term return trips.
Passengers traveling with their pets on Akasa Air are entitled to a selection of complimentary value-added services, including pre-booked window seats, priority baggage delivery, and priority boarding.
Akasa Air stated that it has made substantial investments in research and training across its customer care centers, airports, and in-flight teams to guarantee the highest standards of care, safety, and comfort throughout the journey.
Furthermore, the airline announced its partnership with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to implement best practices, aiming for continuous enhancement in pet comfort and safety.
Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Akasa Air, extended appreciation to pet parents for their support and valuable feedback, emphasizing its role in propelling enhancements to the Pets on Akasa service.
Commitment to listening and Improvement
He emphasized the airline’s dedication to actively listening to customer feedback for ongoing improvement.
Introduced on November 1, 2022, Pets on Akasa enables customers to journey with their cats and dogs on domestic flights spanning 22 cities, accommodating them either in the cabin or cargo, depending on their weight.
