Not even the PM knows when the next election will be: Peta Credlin

Sky News host Peta Credlin claims not even the Prime Minister knows when the next election will be as rumours circle an early election could be called this year.

Text messages between Anthony Albanese’s top advisor, Tim Gartrell, to all the staff in the Prime Minister’s office were leaked on Tuesday.

In the message, he welcomed a new senior staff member “as we enter an election year”.

Ms Credlin said the date for the next election hasn’t been decided yet despite “fevered” speculation.

“That sounds simple enough when you say it like that, but believe me, calling an election involves a huge number of moving parts that most people in the media never fully appreciate,” she said.

“It involves a whole lot of things you need to fall into alignment, an enormous number of things to be considered and the work on all of that is done over months not days.”
