Excitement builds in Denmark ahead of crowning of new King and Queen

Excitement is building on the streets of Copenhagen, where the Proclamation of Denmark’s new King and Queen will take place on Sunday.

Australians, as well as Danes, are preparing to celebrate as Crown Princess Mary, who is set to become Queen, hails from Tasmania.

The Australian Ambassador to Denmark will be travelling to Copenhagen for the historic occasion as well, where he will host a reception for the Australians in Denmark.

There are an estimated 3,500 Aussies residing in the country.

The Proclamation follows Queen Margarethe’s shock resignation on New Year’s Eve after 52 years on the throne.
