Ainias Smith meets with reporters during Philadelphia Eagles rookie camp
We did a little bit of studying for sure and. I also took my time to go ahead and go back and watch film on the XFL and how they used to do things and whatnot. Man. Really, honestly, it’s just all about the setup. I feel like when it comes to returns like that, it’s not going to be a full speed. They’re going to be running full speed, but they’re not going to have, you know, as many fields, as much field to cover as they used to. So I’ll say it’s really just all about the setup, about how you set up your block, set up your return and whatnot and. And just taking it to the crib, you had a lot of production in college with the ball in your hands. You had a background on running back, correct? And and how did that go from that position to wide receiver over your career? For sure. So originally I got to AM playing receiver so that was my whole thing going into I guess you could say the running back room was a little bit different just learning the different protections I. Learning different run plays, who’s gonna be blocking who and whatnot. But honestly, me having a ball in my hand, I’ve been doing that since I was a little kid. And then once I had got to the collegiate level, playing running back was a little different. Different steps and all of that. But once I had learned basically to read my blogs, learning how to understand basically things were going to happen. And when things don’t happen the way that you want them to, then you know, have a counter against it. But then at the same time, once I have went back to the receiving room. It became natural, like a little bubble routes, open fields, space. Things like that. Just having to bother my hand. It was just natural.
