Residents in Perth’s northern suburbs have a mammoth clean up this morning, more than 100 millimetres of rain falling within an hour and with no warning. Yesterday afternoon the sudden deluge left people trapped in cars, streets flooded and caused a shopping centre ceiling to collapse. What’s up? In the in their carport and they’re rolled off. There’s no ignition on or anything, they’re just doing that by themselves. Yeah, right. Time to say the dogs really ’cause the dogs were actually under half underwater. I’ve been doing this job a long time. 100 mills in under an hour in Perth metropolitan area is fairly unprecedented. It followed a month of no rain for the area and this downpour isn’t expected to last with only a 5% chance of more rain forecast in the coming days.
