A man has been charged with making a hoax threat to police after a six-hour stand-off with officers in a small country town in northern NSW.
Emergency services were called to a private property on the Bruxner Highway at Wollongbar, near Lismore about 8am on Thursday over concerns for a man's welfare.
Roadblocks were put in place and a local lockdown ordered as police negotiators went in to talk to the 45-year-old man.
He was taken into custody about 2pm before being transferred to Lismore Base Hospital for examination.
No one was injured in the incident.
The man was later charged with multiple offences, including making a hoax threat, giving false information about a person or property in danger and possessing a prohibited drug.
