Adam Schefter Reports Latest On Jets, Packers Aaron Rodgers Trade Talks
The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers are still gridlocked in Aaron Rodgers negotiations. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, via Dov Kleiman, the two teams haven’t spoken much this past week.
It seems the Packers want the Jets’ first-round draft pick. The Jets don’t want to give it to them.
New York traded a third-rounder and receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a second-round pick on Wednesday. The Jets now hold the No. 42 and 43 picks, which some have speculated could be used to acquire Rodgers.
Schefter, via Kleiman, denied that notion, saying the Moore trade had little to do with the Rodgers one.
Rodgers made it clear on March 15 that he is not the one holding up a trade between the Packers and Jets, saying his intention is to play in New York next season.
If the Packers want to start building around quarterback Jordan Love, they’ll look to strike a deal with the Jets before the NFL Draft on April 27.
If they’re set on acquiring a first-round pick plus some, the negotiation could be months in the making.
