A former football prodigy is facing a lengthy jail sentence after admitting to smuggling drugs and money laundering with his brother.
Jamie Cassidy, now 46, won the FA Youth Cup in 1996 while playing for Liverpool’s youth team.
The former youth star, admitted conspiracy to supply class A drugs and conspiracy to launder money.
His brother, Jonathan Cassidy, of Crosby, pleaded to conspiracy to evade the fraudulent prohibition on the importation of class A drugs, conspiracy to supply class A drugs and conspiracy to launder money.
A third man, Nasar Ahmed, 51, from Bury, also admitted to the same offences as Jonathan Cassidy.
The trio had been due to go on trial at Manchester Crown Court, but now face sentencing next month.

Jamie was arrested in the wake of the law enforcement infiltration of EncroChat, an encrypted communications system favoured by organised criminals
His teammates in the squad included Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen.
Liverpool beat a West Ham team which included future England stars Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard.
But Jamie, a midfielder, was released without making a first team appearance after a series of injuries.
He later signed for Cambridge United before playing for non-league sides.
In his 2008 autobiography, Carragher said Jamie ‘would have been a certain Liverpool regular if he hadn’t suffered so much with injuries’.
Jamie was arrested in the wake of the law enforcement infiltration of EncroChat, an encrypted communications system favoured by organised criminals.
The facts of the case against the Cassidys and Ahmed have not yet been disclosed in court.
Jamie Cassidy appeared in court via video link yesterday from HMP Forest Bank in Salford.
The Cassidys and Ahmed all pleaded guilty on the eve of a proposed trial and have been remanded in custody for more than three years awaiting trial.
Judge Nicholas Dean KC, the Honorary Recorder of Manchester, told Jamie Cassidy, of Knowsley Lane, Knowsley: ‘I’m quite sure that after more than three years in custody, your anxiety is to know the sentence that you face.
‘You will not have much longer to wait for that to occur.’
