A21 Thailand Foundation moves to end human trafficking

A21 Thailand Foundation has kick-started “A21 x Tuk Tuk To End Human Trafficking”, a new campaign to build public awareness of human trafficking and its impact, and to encourage reporting of suspected trafficking. The launch was accompanied with 21 tuk-tuks that will run all over Bangkok from through to 16 October 12021 #A21xTukTuk.

A21 is an international non-profit organisation with a mission to abolish human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Currently, A21 has 20 offices in 15 countries globally, with two operational offices in Thailand in Bangkok and Pattaya. A21 Thailand has been registered as a foundation and a non-profit organisation since 6 June 2016, and currently operates with three main objectives:

A21 Thailand Foundation moves to end human trafficking

1. Reach the vulnerable by means of prevention, awareness, and education.

2. Rescue the victim by collaborating with government sectors in the identification of survivors of human trafficking, support of legal and court processes of survivors, and professional training of frontline identifiers.

3. Restore the survivor through aftercare service specifically designed for each individual.

This year, to promote the public’s knowledge and understanding of human trafficking, and to incentivise all to be engaged, informed, and participate in combating this global issue, A21 Thailand Foundation launched “A21 x Tuk Tuk To End Human Trafficking” with the placement of informational banners and relevant statistics on 21 tuk-tuks. These tuk-tuks will render their usual services in the Bangkok area for one month, starting from Thursday, 16 September through Saturday, 16 October 2021.

A21 Thailand Foundation moves to end human trafficking

The banners also contain hotline numbers of three government agencies which the public can call to report suspected cases of human trafficking: 1202 Department of Special Investigation (DSI), 1300 Social Assistance Centre, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), and 1191 Helpline for human trafficking, Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD).

To be a part of this campaign, A21 Foundation would like to invite everyone to take a picture with a tuk-tuk with A21 banner and publicly post their photo with the hashtag #A21xTukTuk.

A21 holds that when everyone, both governmental and civil society, acknowledges and collaborates together, while being firm in belief and willingness to help victims and survivors of human trafficking, we will finally see a society where everyone has their freedom, in a world without human trafficking.
