Jim Sheridan's sad reason he is selling €2.5m Dublin home - recalls 'crazy' party with Brad Pitt and Sinead O'Connor

Top filmmaker Jim Sheridan has revealed he plans to downsize as he puts his Dublin home on the market.

The My Left Foot director has put his stunning four-bedroom home on St Mary’s Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 on the market for €2.5m.

Jim explained why he wants to sell up – but insists he will stay in Dublin.

The Oscar-nominated star said: “It’s too big for one person. I’ll get another place in Dublin.”

Jim bought the lavish home in 1992 with his late wife, Fran, who passed away suddenly in 2021. The couple had been married for almost 50 years.

Number 18 has welcomed plenty of Hollywood A-listers over the years, and Jim previously recalled in particular “a crazy party that went all night” that he and Fran threw for American actor Mia Farrow, who was filming Widows’ Peak at the time.

He said at the time: “I know Brad Pitt was at it, and Morgan Freeman and Bono and Ali [Hewson], the Edge and Sinéad O’Connor. A load of people.”

Jim Sheridan’s luxury Ballsbridge home hits the market for €2.5 million.

He also recalled a dinner at number 18 with Martin Scorsese, Neil Jordan, John Boorman, Gregory Peck and his daughter, Cecelia Peck, in attendance.

Ideally located on a beautiful tree-lined road in the heart of Dublin 4, the Victorian-period red bricked abode boasts many original features including original wooden floors, ornate cornices and centre ceiling roses and stunning marble fireplaces.

It is the second time Jim tried to sell the family home.

In 2019, he put the property on the market for €3.5m after his three daughters moved out.

“The kids are gone, they’re in New York and LA so it was just too big for us,” he said at the time.
