The company have been trialling the concept at 20 stores in the country
Supermarket giant Asda is the latest business to trial a four-day working week. It has been revealed that the experiment is set to conclude at the end of this month.
A recent report in the Telegraph stated that the temporary arrangement also included shorter shifts and flexible working hours. Asda say they have been conducting the trial since September 2023 at 20 stores in the country.
The retailer says that while it is still ‘evaluating’ the results of the trial, the feedback from staff members has been ‘very positive.’
Asda have become the latest business in the country to join the movement of adopting a shorter working week. In 2022 a campaign was launched calling for the reduction of working days for employees that saw hundreds of companies trial the concept.
An Asda spokesperson told the Telegraph: “Since September 2023, we have been trialling a variety of flexible working patterns for managers in 20 stores, including a four-day working week for the same pay and benefits.
“There has been no reduction in the number of hours that hourly-paid colleagues are contracted to work as a result of this trial.
“While we are still evaluating the results, the feedback from participating colleagues has been very positive.”
