Pune Metro Underground Services Between Civil Court And Swargate To Begin Soon; Trial Run Successful

Pune Metro News: Officials from Pune Metro Rail have announced that they anticipate commencing the underground service on both lines from Civil Court to Swargate in mid-June, following successful trial runs along the route.

Indian Express quoted the Pune Metro rail official as saying that, the recent trial run on the second line of the underground metro rail service was successful. Work on the underground metro station is progressing rapidly.

The officer expressed hope that the underground metro rail service from Civil Court to Swargate would be operational by June 15, as the election code of conduct will conclude in June.

Initial Deadline

Initially, the deadline for starting operations from Civil Court to Swargate was set for March 31. However, due to incomplete work and the enforcement of the election code of conduct, the deadline was not met.

Pune Metro-Phase 1 Route

The commencement of the underground metro rail service will mark the completion of phase one of the project, which spans from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi. Currently, the Vanaz to Ramwadi route is fully operational, while the PCMC to Civil Court route is partially functional, excluding the underground stretch to Swargate.

Pune Metro: PCMC To Nigdi Extension Approved

The central government has granted approval for the extension of the route from PCMC to Nigdi, which is part of phase one. However, the proposal to extend the route from Swargate to Katraj is still awaiting approval. The second phase proposal of the Pune Metro rail has been submitted to the Maharashtra government for review, after which it will be forwarded to the central government.

Pune Metro Feeder Services

Meanwhile, Pune Metro is actively working on improving the feeder service from the Metro station to nearby locations, aiming to provide last-mile connectivity for commuters. The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) officer stated that the feeder service to Pune airport from the Metro station has received a positive response. Additional routes for the feeder bus service are being explored and tested on an experimental basis.
