Justin Trudeau 'Allowed' China To Infiltrate Says Opposition; Accuses PM Of Coverup At High Security Risk Lab

Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been accused of covering up the lapses at a high-security risk lab in Winnipeg. Opposition leader Pierre Pollievre has claimed that Trudeau “allowed” China to infiltrate the lab.

During a press conference, the opposition leader showed documents which show that Trudeau has been covering up a “massive security breach at the Trudeau government’s most sensitive labratory”.

“Where the most dangerous viruses and pathogens are studied and handled. We’ve learnt that the Trudeau government’s head of pathogens was collaborating with the members of China’s People’s Liberation Army who are responsible for bio-weapons and bio-terrorism,” stated Pollierve.

The documents revealed by the opposition leader claim that Chinese officials were allowed to walk into the lab and gain access to sensitive information, which could put Canada’s national security at risk.

What Happened At The Winnipeg Lab?

In 2019, the federal government fired two high-profile scientists – Dr. Xiangguo Qiu and her husband Keding Cheng. The two were scaked in 2019 and stripped of their security clearances. However, their dismissals were announced in January 2021.

Recently, the government revealed the documents which share the details of the firing of the two scientists. In the documents, it has been revealed that Canadian Intelligence agencies conducted multiple screenings which determined that Dr Qiu had “intentionally” shared scientific information with China.

“Dr. Qiu represents a very serious and credible danger to the government of Canada as a whole and in particular at facilities considered high-security due to the potential for theft of dangerous materials attractive to terrorist and foreign entities that conduct espionage to infiltrate and damage the economic security of Canada,” stated that report written by the Public Health Agency of Canada in 2020.

Trudeau has already accused China of interference in its 2019 and 2021 elections. After the Winnipeg case, the Canadian PM stated that the threat from China has increased.

However, the Canadian opposition has alleged that Trudeau has spent years trying to cover up these lapses. The Trudeau administration in turn has accused the opposition of spewing conspiracies.
