A major North Wales road will close tomorrow due to Storm Isha winds. The region is set to be battered by extremely high winds on Sunday – with weather warnings also in place for Monday and Tuesday.
This evening Traffic Wales announced that a busy North Wales road would shut due to the wind warning. The A483 from Junction 1 to the A5 Gledrid Roundabout will close. It is due to fears about the high winds on the Dee and Ceiriog viaducts.
That stretch will shut at 8am on Sunday and remain closed until 6am on Monday morning. There will be a diversion in place that will take drivers via Llangollen – using the A539, A5 and B5070.
Traffic Wales said: “Due to extremely high winds that will be impacted by #StormIsha the Dee and Ceiriog viaducts will be closed tomorrow. Diversion via A539, A5 Llangollen and B5070, due to the B5605 landslip the diversion is longer. Please allow extra time and follow all signs.”

An amber weather warning is in place for some areas on Sunday, with yellow alerts for wind and rain also in place from Sunday into Monday. The Met Office has warned people to take care, with winds of up to 80mph in exposed locations and heavy downpours set to cause problems, with possible travel disruption, power cuts, flooding, damage to buildings and risk of injuries. Here is the latest on when and where the storm will hit.
