TAGOLOAN, Misamis Oriental: Three Filipino workers were injured in an accident in a Chinese-owned steel plant in the industrial town of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, a company official said on Sunday.
Leo Liu, spokesman for Sanjai Steel Corp., identified the injured Filipino workers as Sintos Hilario, Janjan Butlig and Cal John Philip Galorio.
Liu said the workers sustained burns on their bodies after a high temperature hydraulic oil hose burst a few meters away from the victims, burning their uniforms.
“The workers were in stable condition now while recuperating in a hospital in Cagayan de Oro City, ” he added.
In an interview with The Manila Times, Liu said the accident took place on Friday morning, but the company has to issue a statement to dispel rumors of an alleged explosion in the steel company.

He added that representatives from some government agencies like the Department of Labor and Employment and the Bureau of Fire Protection rushed to the steel plant after the incident, also on Friday.
