PETALING JAYA: Twenty-eight men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons while rioting on Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth, Penang, police said.

North Seberang Perai police chief Asri Shafie said the suspects, aged 17 to 51, were arrested at several locations in the district today, Harian Metro reported.

He said the incident was sparked by an altercation and provocation between some of the suspects.

“We are tracking down other suspects under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons while rioting,” he said.

Earlier today, a four-second video went viral on social media showing a group of men armed with parangs damaging a vehicle in front of a premises on Jalan Raja Uda.
