2 Bruins Named Top Free Agents
It might be hard to believe, but free agency is less than two months away. Because of this, NHL insider Frank Seravalli released his list of Top 50 UFAs for the 2024 NHL Offseason for Daily Faceoff.
Two Boston Bruins players made Seravalli’s list – forward Jake DeBrusk and defenseman Matt Grzelcyk.
DeBrusk, 27, secured the No. 25 spot on Seravalli’s list. The 2015 first-round pick certainly should be a hot commodity if the Bruins don’t re-sign him. He’s a solid top-six forward with multiple years left in his prime.

DeBrusk struggled with consistency this season but still put up decent numbers, posting 19 goals, 40 points, and a plus-4 rating in 80 regular-season games. He has also been impactful this postseason, recording four goals and six points in nine games.
Grzelcyk earned the No. 41 spot on Seravalli’s list even after a tough season in Boston. In 63 regular-season games, the Massachusetts native had two goals and nine assists, a significant drop from his four goals and 26 points in 75 games last season. He also has lost his spot as a regular in their lineup this postseason, having been scratched in six out of their nine games thus far.

However, when noting that Grzelcyk has shown in the past that he can handle playing top-pairing minutes, he is a bounce-back candidate for 2024-25. But will be back in Boston or playing elsewhere?
