1967 Ford Mustang Restomod Powered By Roush-Built V8 Engine

You’ve probably heard of ECD Auto Design before, as we’ve featured its electric powertrain conversions on several occasions. Typically, the company specializes in electrifying the Jaguar E-Type and the classic Land Rover Defender, but now that it has acquired the assets of a classic car restoration company called Brand New Muscle Car, it has shifted focus to the classic Ford Mustang, its first American restomod.

Interestingly, this won’t be powered by electricity but a 5.7-liter V8 developed by Roush. We’ve seen several automakers scale back EV plans to focus on what buyers really want, and it seems that even aftermarket EV conversion specialists are changing tack to service the needs of gearheads who get their kicks sniffing gasoline.
ECD Ford Mustang Base Performance Specifications
Like other high-end restomods, buyers can commission paint finishes and interior choices as they please, but all of them will get the same basic recipe underneath. The process starts with a 1967-1968 model year Mustang from the GT Series – either a fastback or a convertible. This gets a Roush 347 SR V8 producing 410 horsepower, while Wilwood Superlight six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers bring the iconic pony car to a stop.

That may sound blasphemous, but it’s a match made in heaven.
“Modern coilover options” will be provided, and that 5.7-liter small block will breathe out of a MagnaFlow Street Series exhaust. American Racing Torq-Thrust D wheels measuring 15×7 inches will be wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial tires. High-gloss paint, new chrome bumpers, and LED lighting will make the car look fresh.

ECD Ford Mustang Base Interior Specifications
Inside, your cabin will be trimmed in leather from the ECD Hydes range, with custom hand-stitching adding more pizzazz. Up front, occupants get Procar Series 1400 Pro-90 Lowback seats (heated), while the rear is fitted with a classic bench. Interior switchgear will be standard, while steering will be handled by a Grant Classic Nostalgia Mustang Wheel. For the most part, this won’t be an overt restomod like a Singer, but there will be some modern upgrades: a retro head unit with Bluetooth, a Pioneer four-speaker system, and a Pioneer subwoofer. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the ECD configurator is already live, allowing you to spec base colors for the body, wheels, calipers, and cabin.
