For the past few years, mini brands have been one of the biggest trends with kids. For those that are unfamiliar, mystery minis have been a social media sensation, appealing to the toy trends of unboxing and anything tiny and pocket-sized.

Chris Byrne (aka The Toy Guy) says that one of the reasons why these toys are so popular is the social aspect; they’re great for schoolyard trading.

“Kids have been inside and away from their peers for a long time,” says Byrne. “These are tradable gifts that allow kids to relate to each other…. They’re great conversation-starters.”

Cute, collectible and—quite possibly—the perfect stocking stuffer. Here are some of our favorite toys that jump on the mini trend.

1. Zuru 5-Surprise Minis

17 mini brands your kids will go crazy for

From the brand that started it all, Zuru 5-Surprise Minis came on the scene to dominate TikTok in 2019, and have been a sensation ever since. The fun of these little spheres comes in their unboxing. Each of the five chambers is sealed and, once opened, reveals a miniaturized version of top brands of household items and food. Byrne says part of their appeal is that kids love miniatures and the display aspect of this toy makes it fun for kids.

Once they’ve got a collection going, get the 5-Surprise Mini Mart to display their collection.
