12 new Covid-19 clusters, half of them involving workplaces

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected 12 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said six of them were workplace clusters, three educational clusters, two community clusters and one involved a religious activity.

The clusters were detected in Johor, Selangor, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Pahang and Perak.


  • Jalan Zabedah: a workplace cluster linked to a service company in Jalan Zabedah. It involves Batu Pahat. The index case was detected on Oct 15. 54 screened, 17 positive.
  • Industri Jalan Cyber Sembilan: a workplace cluster linked to a factory in Senai. It involves Kulai. The index case was detected on Oct 19. 173 screened, seven positive.
  • Juaseh: an education cluster linked to students and staff of a learning centre in Labis. It involves Segamat. The index case was detected on Oct 16. 75 screened, 26 positive.


  • Industri Persiaran Usahawan Tiga 2: a workplace cluster linked to a factory in Bandar Baru Bangi. It involves Hulu Langat and Sepang. 155 screened, 47 positive.
  • Industri Jalan Seruling 58: a workplace cluster linked to a factory in Taman Klang Jaya. It involves Klang. 26 screened, 12 positive.
  • Jalan Enam Kampung Bahru: an education cluster linked to students and staff of a learning centre in Kampung Bahru Lanjut. It involves Sepang. The index case was detected on Oct 11. 27 screened, 14 positive.

Kuala Lumpur

  • Jalan Stesen Sentral Tiga: a workplace cluster linked to a market in Jalan Stesen Sentral 3. It involves Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Titiwangsa. The index case was detected on Oct 21. 31 screened, five positive.
  • Jalan Dataran Wangsa: an education cluster linked to students and staff of a learning centre in Wangsa Melawati. It involves Titiwangsa. The index case was detected on Oct 16. 50 screened, 11 positive.


  • Industri Jalan Usaha Lapan: a workplace cluster linked to a factory in Air Keroh. It involves Melaka Tengah. The index case was detected on Oct 9. 165 screened, 26 positive.


  • Alab Senagang: a community cluster in Kampung Alab Senagang. It involves Tenom. The index case was detected on Oct 15. 88 screened, 50 positive.


  • Jalan Jaya Lima: a community cluster in Taman Jaya 5. It involves Temerloh and Maran. The index case was detected on Oct 12. 180 screened, 29 positive.


  • Lepang Nenering: a cluster linked to religious activities in Pengkalan Hulu. It involves Hulu Perak. The index case was detected on Oct 14. 24 screened, 18 positive.

No new EMCO, no extensions

Meanwhile, the National Security Council (MKN) said there were no new areas to be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

In a statement, MKN director-general Rodzi Md Saad said there was no extension of the EMCO in any locality.

However, Rodzi added that the EMCO at several areas in Lipis, Pahang is set to end tomorrow as scheduled. The areas include Pos Sinderut and Perkampungan Orang Asli at Pos Lenjang and Pos Titom in Mukim Ulu Jelai.
