The Cincinnati Bengals are making a noteworthy change to Paycor Stadium ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
According to Bengals insider Kelsey Conway, the Cincinnati franchise plans to remove the slit film turf currently on the field and replace it with new FieldTurf.
“In an ongoing effort to maintain Paycor Stadium at the highest levels, a new FieldTurf field will be installed as part of offseason stadium upgrades,” the Bengals’ statement read, via Conway. “The selection comes after a thorough review process that considered the major players in the artificial turf industry, collaboration with the NFL and its testing requirements, and stadium and football experts.
“Player safety and performance data drove the selection of a monofilament product, consistent with NFL recommendations.”
Per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, the Bengals’ decision to renovate the turf at Paycor Stadium means that no NFL team will deploy slit film turf in 2024.
“That means no NFL team will have a slit film turf field in 2024. Minnesota, Indianapolis and now Cincinnati all converting this offseason,” Seifert writes.
We’ll keep an eye out for updates on the renovations to Paycor Stadium.
