Every few years, a new generation bring back trends from a decade before their time.
It seems like we’re currently in a noughties revival as celebs have been spotted wearing Juicy tracksuits, mini shoulder bags are all the range and rectangle sunglasses are now on fashionistas’ wish lists for summer.
The 00s style might be a new concept to those born after 2010, but millennial babies remember it all too well.
Rounding up the most iconic things from a noughties baby’s childhoods, here are 10 things that any kid who grew up in the 00s will remember.
Blackberries

Most girls who grew up in the 2000s had a Blackberry phone at some point, especially after seeing the likes of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian using it first.
The phone was home to the messaging app BBM, where all teenage girls logged onto after school to share the teenage gossip and news from earlier that day.
It also marked a huge upgrade from the days of fighting with your siblings over the landline and trying to sneak extra minutes past your parents who needed the keep the line free. Anyone else still have their home number memorised?
The Heelys ban

Heelys, the shoes with the built in wheel, were a source of great fun for kids, but also injury.
Parents who bought their children the roller shoe nearly always regretted it when they witnessed their child gliding carelessly around as they barely missed many near-collisions.
After many accidents in the school yard, teachers around the country banned the shoe from their classrooms in hopes of avoiding sending kids home with broken bones… and there was uproar from the students!
Loom bands

Kids spent hours making bracelets out of tiny rubber bands to give to their friends the next day, even causing trouble in school when they’d be busy crafting friendship bracelets at their desks instead of doing their times tables.
The rubber accessories became outfit staples and were also behind many successful businesses back in the day, giving many teens their first experience of entrepreneurship.
Nintendo DS

Listed on every child’s Santy list, a Nintendo DS was a childhood staple for many.
The Nintendo DS gave everyone their first-ever responsibility as well through the game Nintendogs as they raised digital dogs like their own children.
The device is also responsible for turning kids into the competitive adults they are today, with many who will never forgive their older siblings for never letting them win Mario Kart.
Tamagotchis

Although this tiny toy came onto the market in the 90s, it stuck around long enough for the next generation of kids.
Much like Nintendogs, Tamagotchis had young kids feeling like they were parents themselves. The digital pet was a hyper-fixation for days at a time, before being forgotten about or lost when it fell off whatever its silver chain was tied to.
Family computer

Many kids these days have their own phone or iPad, but back in the 2000s, it was more common for a family to share one computer between them all.
Each child has a set amount of screen time, usually an hour each, before having to let their sibling have their turn (we can still remember the arguments!)
Kids these days will never know the struggle of trying to make the most out of their short computer time before they were told to go outside for fresh air, no matter the weather.
Stardoll

Any girl who grew up in the 00s will remember Stardoll, the online game where you could build your own digital version of yourself or simply play celebrity dress-up games.
Girls would reconvene on Stardoll after school and would make sure to let each other know what time they’d be online so they could have their post-school chats.
Lelli kelly shoes

The pink sparkly Lelli Kelly shoes were desired by every young girl after seeing the ad and catchy theme tune play on their TV screens in between shows like Hannah Montana or Totally Spies.
Speak to any 20-something girl now and they’ll tell you their mam wouldn’t buy them Lelli Kellys because they were too expensive and ‘you’ll be out of them in no time’. (Which, looking back, is justified but some still have yet to forgive their mams for it)
Goo-ey alien toys

These strange sticky aliens came in a plastic shell and were a sought after toy for many. Rumour had it that if you put the alien in the fridge, a baby alien would magically appear, but it never did.
The schoolyard craze broke many parents’ hearts when the sticky alien goo would ruin carpets around the country and even get stuck in their kids’ hair.
Television and Movies

Ask any grown-up what they remember from their childhood and the first thing mentioned will always be what they watched.
From iCarly, to Ned’s Declassfied and Drake & Josh, Nickelodeon and Disney kept kids entertained for hours and became childhood favourites, with many of us re-watching episodes now and again for the nostalgia.
