The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is likely to get rain between February 21 and 23, a weather interpreter claimed. The predication can be sigh of relief for Mumbaikars who have been reeling under hot and humid conditions for the past few days.

The weather interpreter, who goes by the name ‘Mumbai Rains’, on ‘X’ explained why Mumbai could see rain this week. “The changing intensity of Western Disturbance is the main reason for the chance of rain, and high humidity near 100% is making a good chance for rain fall near midnight hours of 21-22 Feb,” the post read.

The ‘X’ user further wrote, “Days will be super cloudy, and maximum temperature will slip below 30 degrees. As of now it is confirmed that Mumbai also has the possibility of some rain as per the latest weather forecast.”

The weather interpreter predicted more rains for the north of MMR. “Areas near Palghar, Igatpuri side, Vapi; Valsad from Gujarat as well will witness some rain,” the post read.

A report in Indian Express on Tuesday, however, quoted the India Meteorological Department as stating that the temperatures will continue to remain in the same range for the next three to four days at least before recording a drop in temperature.

Registering a rise of three degrees above the normal, the Santacruz weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the coastal observatory at Colaba registered a maximum of 32.4 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures hovered between 20-21 degrees Celsius in the island city as well as in the suburbs, the report mentioned.
