A major Sydney road has been thrown into traffic chaos following a multi-vehicle pileup between a truck and several cars, with up to nine people hospitalised.
All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Parramatta Rd in Five Dock were closed at Great North Rd about 4.30pm after reports of the crash on Friday.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed at least nine patients have been assessed and taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospital.

Traffic along Parramatta Rd in Sydney’s inner west is significantly affected after the major accident
A male driver and female passenger were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with serious injuries.
Two other people were also taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries.
Another driver was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Parramatta Rd is now closed in both directions between Frederick St in Ashfield and Harris Rd in Five Dock.
Eastbound traffic on Parramatta Rd is being diverted into Harris St.
Great North Rd is also closed between Queens Rd and Parramatta Rd.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, was uninjured and is assisting with inquiries.
Police established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the crash.
Multiple roads around Parramatta Rd are also closed in Five Dock as crews clean up the scene
Emergency crews said seven cars and a truck were involved in the collision
