Social media erupted with memes on Thursday as fans poked fun at Zendaya and Anya Taylor-Joy’s futuristic looks from the Dune: Part Two world premiere.
The stars of the epic science fiction film have debuted a number of eye-catching outfits during the press tour and made no exception while walking the red carpet at London’s Leicester Square.
Zendaya, 27, who plays the warrior Chani in the franchise, wore a piece of fashion history to the event – a Thierry Mugler robot suit from his fall/winter 1995 Couture Collection.
The skintight outfit featured a cut out detail across the midriff and legs, complete with silver gloves along with matching knee-high boots.
Meanwhile, Anya, 27, cut an angelic appearance in an elegant all white number for the evening in custom Dior based off the Hyménée bridal look from Spring 1961.

The star covered herself in a sheer veil which encompassed her whole head, with a plunging pleated dress layered underneath.
However, the actresses archival looks sparked a flurry of reaction on X, with fans likening them to villains from the Doctor Who franchise, hailing it ‘Chibnall-couture’ after head writer and showrunner Chris Chibnall.
Zendaya’s outfit was compared to Cyberwoman from Torchwood while other’s drew comparisons between Anya and The Trickster from The Sarah Jane Adventures.
‘Why is Zendaya dressed like Lanto’s Cyberman girlfriend in Torchwood?’ one person questioned.
Another added: ‘Good to see Torchwood getting some love in 2024. Sad to see she ditched the handlebars though, they’re iconic.’
Someone else added: ‘It’s giving Torchwood.’
Sharing their thoughts on Anya’s look, one fan posted: ‘Got The Trickster fit.’
‘Was the theme for the Dune: Part Two premiere “Doctor Who Core”?’ another joked.

The new Dune sequel takes place immediately after the first film ended, when Paul (Timothee) and his mother joined forces with Chani (Zendaya) and the rest of the desert-dwelling Fremen to get revenge against the evil House Harkonnen, whose members have killed most of his family and friends.
The film was originally scheduled for a late October 2023 release, before being pushed back to November and finally shuffled all the way back to March of this year following the dual writers and actors strikes.
The sequel was co-produced with Legendary Entertainment in addition to Warner Bros. Film Group.
