'Extraordinary' Tiger stuns with incredible record

Tiger Woods has broken the record for most consecutive cuts made at Augusta after battling wind and obvious pain on day two of The Masters.

The 15-times major winner made it 24 consecutive cuts made after hitting an even-par second-round 72.

Woods was notably grimacing throughout his 23 holes after starting the day at 1-under through 13 holes on his opening round. The 48-year-old had to battle tough winds as well.

Tiger Woods broke the record for most consecutive cuts made.

The former world number one admitted after his round “it’s been a long day”.

“It was good fight, we did really well out there and I’m still right there in the ball game with a good chance going into the weekend,” he told ESPN.

“This golf course will expose any weakness you have, the greens are quick right now and this wind is all over the place. We have to play with a lot of wind on putts, chip shots, anything that basically gets in the air. It was a great test.”

Woods hit an even-par second round to be one-over for the major, featuring four birdies and four bogeys.

The cut record was previously shared between Woods, Fred Couples and Gary Player, but now the 48-year-old sits above all those who came before him.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have played this event for all these years … as a pro I’ve done well and it’s just an amazing aura that Augusta National has and I’ve been lucky enough to have been coming here since I was 19 years old,” Woods said.
