golfer mocked for missing masters cut after blasting liv golf

the Masters

After Day One of the Masters on Thursday, PGA Tour star Wyndham Clark decided to mock LIV Golf. But now, he is receiving a ton of criticism after melting down at the end of the second round on Friday, missing the cut in the process.

On Thursday, Clark decided to poke fun at LIV star Bryson DeChambeau, saying that he likes his chances to chase down DeChambeau because of LIV’s 54-hole format at their tournaments.

“Yeah, we have 54 holes (left),” said Clark after shooting an opening round 73 on Thursday. In LIV Golf, they only play 54, so I like my chances. We have a lot of golf left. As you can see, someone shot seven-under. I could do that tomorrow.”

At the time of Clark saying this, he sat at one-over-par for the event. So it was reasonable that he could indeed chase down DeChambeau.

However, Clark did not shoot seven-under-par on Friday. In fact, he actually shot seven over par, missing the cut to play the weekend by one stroke. He had a chance to make a birdie putt on the 18th hole to sneak in to play the weekend, but ended up missing the putt by just inches.

Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau ended up staying tied for the lead after shooting one-over-par on his round on Friday.

Clark probably shouldn’t have spoken too soon when it comes to chasing down the lead. It’s fine to be confident, but these comments were borderline cocky towards LIV Golf as a whole.

Naturally, golf fans took to social media to rip Clark for his comments that aged very poorly.

Clark has shown to be a very solid player, previously winning the U.S. Open this past year. So he will be back and likely perform better considering this is his first ever appearance at the Masters.

That being said, maybe he will learn from this bold comment that went terribly wrong and be a bit more humble in the future.
