Indira Gandhi, the then-prime minister, was killed by her bodyguards Beant Singh and Sawant Singh riddling her with bullets on October 31, 1984. Now, one Sarabjit Singh, son of the assassin Beant Singh, is all set to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 from Punjab’s Faridkot constituency.

The 45-year-old said many people from Faridkot have asked him to take part in the electoral race, adding that he will be in the fray independently. Gandhi was killed by Beant Singh at her residence on Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, allegedly in revenge for Operation Blue Star, which was an Indian Armed operation in 1984 to remove Sikh separatists from the Golden Temple.
