Crystal Palace have a four-man shortlist of names who could replace the under-pressure Roy Hodgson, according to reports.

The Eagles were thrashed 5-0 at Arsenal on Saturday, a result that leaves the club 15th in the Premier League and just five points clear of the relegation zone.

They have now won just one of their last 12 games across all competitions, form that has left supporters understandably furious, and those who travelled to the Emirates made their feelings very well-known.

One read: ‘Wasted potential. On and off the pitch, weak decisions. Taking us backwards,’ while another said: ‘No shared vision. No structured plan. Parish out, Yanks out.’

Hodgson was always expected to leave Selhurst Park in the summer anyway, but there is now a lot of pressure on the former England manager to be sacked.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Palace already have four names in mind should they decide to part ways with the 76-year-old who returned to the club just over a year ago to replace the axed Patrick Vieira.

The two most prominent candidates are Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui, who are both out of work having left Nottingham Forest and Wolves respectively earlier this season.

Cooper was actually linked with the South London side in 2021 when Hodgson first left but they opted to hire Vieira instead.

Other names under consideration are Kieran McKenna whose impressive Ipswich side are currently third in the Championship, and former Mainz boss Bo Svensson.

One manager who has been linked with Palace previously is Graham Potter, who was in the stands at the Emirates, and has been out of work since getting sacked by Chelsea last season.

Former Gunners forward Theo Walcott believes he’d be a good fit for the Eagles, saying on BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘Roy Hodgson has been brilliant for Crystal Palace, but it comes to a point eventually where you think, “When do I stop?”.

‘If you are thinking of the team and the club itself and the next generation of managers coming through, who individualise the players they coach, you think maybe it is time for a change.

‘Take Graham Potter for example, who is in the stands there today, he could be a good option if Roy does leave. I think this result today and the way Palace have ended the game has been pretty poor.’
