Lindt, Cadbury, Kinder and Thorntons christmas chocolates
Each year, confectionery brands bring out new products to try at Christmas. However, it is the classics which always remain a firm favourite amongst customers.
This includes the chocolate Santa’s which can be found for less than £3 down the festive aisles in the supermarket.
Brands including Lindt, Cadbury, Kinder and Thorntons sell them, all similar in price and looks, although Thorntons Santa was out of stock so I ended up trying the reindeer alternative.
Lindt’s chocolate Santa is currently £3.50 in Tesco, Cadbury’s is £2, Kinder’s is £3 and Thorntons is £3.50.
I put all four of them to the test to see which one was my family’s favourite, and there was one clear winner.
Christmas chocolates
1. Lindt
Lindt’s chocolate Santa instantly took the top spot for us thanks to its creamy texture and thickness of the chocolate.
The chocolate slowly melted in the mouth, unlike the other chocolate which did mean you only needed to eat a little bit at a time.
The package design is also very nice and the added touch of the Lindt bell made it feel like it was a real treat.
I don’t think the price point was too bad due to the quality of the chocolate, and there are always offers on over the festive period.

2. Cadbury
Cadbury is a classic chocolate that has an instantly recognisable taste and the chocolate Santa went down a treat.
The chocolate was a lot thinner than the Lindt alternative which made it easier to break and easier to eat.
Cadbury’s chocolate doesn’t melt on the mouth like some other brands, but the sweetness and richness are perfect.
The packaging definitely isn’t as luxurious as the Lindt Santa but for £2, it was hard to go wrong with a classic Cadbury chocolate which looked virtually the same on the inside.
3. Kinder
I love Kinder chocolate and was so disappointed when I tried their Santa version which consisted of a fine milk chocolate shell with a milky white lining.
My family agreed the texture was slightly strange and didn’t have a pleasant aftertaste to it, although the packaging definitely beat Cadbury’s.
This was the tiniest chocolate and most crumbly out of them all, and there was hardly any chocolate taste at all.
4. Thorntons
Thorntons has a great reputation for their chocolate and the reindeer had gorgeous detailing with white and red decoration.
Both the reindeer and Santa are presented in a box, compared to the other ones which come in a tin foil wrapper.
The overall presentation of the Thorntons chocolate was the best, however, it lacked in taste and didn’t have a distinct chocolate taste compared to the others.
