2 car theft suspects nabbed, 7 vehicles seized
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two suspected car thieves were arrested and seven vehicles were recovered in simultaneous operations of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG)-Calabarzon.
Col. Rommel Estolano, HPG-4a regional director, said the suspects, identified only by their aliases of Habla and Maliwat, yielded seven vehicles owned by car rental traders, who were victimized by “rent-tangay, rent-sangla-benta-bawi“ scheme.
Estolano said an intensive anti-carjacking campaign is being conducted to combat highway robbery and other forms of criminality.
He advised car owners victimized by the suspects to initiate legal action and prepare the necessary documents for the prompt release of their impounded vehicles.
