Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Kalen DeBoer had his work cut out for him when he took over for Nick Saban. It was always going to be a tough gig, replacing a living legend, but the turnover at Alabama even after the announcement that DeBoer was lured away from Washington has been a bit surprising.
That hasn’t stopped DeBoer and the new-look Crimson Tide from working hard to keep the machine that Saban built at Alabama humming, though, and the new head coach and his staff just got a big break in that regard.
Ryan Williams, a five-star 2024 wide receiver from Sarland, Alabama, has recommitted to the Crimson Tide.
Williams did not sign during the early signing period so when Saban retired, he announced that he’d be opening his commitment back up.
That left the Crimson Tide back at square one with the talented in-state wide receiver, but DeBoer apparently quickly won him back over.
Earlier this month, Williams had said that he believes DeBoer has what it takes to keep the Crimson Tide humming.
“He knows what it takes, and he’s going to continue the culture and the Alabama standard,” Williams had said, per On3.
Now, Williams is back and all-in with Alabama.
To say that this is a massive win for DeBoer is an understatement.
Williams is the No. 3-ranked wideout prospect in his class as well as the No. 6 recruit overall.
