Duke lost to Pittsburgh, 80–76, in dramatic fashion Saturday night, suffering the Blue Devils’ first ACC home loss under coach Jon Scheyer.

The No. 7 Blue Devils were a 12 1/2-point favorite and had beaten the Panthers in Pittsburgh by 22 points on Jan. 9.

To make matters worse for Duke, Pitt forward Blake Hinson sparked an epic viral photo by hopping atop the scorer’s table at Cameron Indoor Stadium to celebrate. While the photo was making the rounds on the internet, Blue Devils center Kyle Filipowski voiced his strong displeasure with Hinson’s antics.

“It was really disrespectful what they did, so you know we’re going to have to take that with a grain of salt and remember that for next time whenever anyone steps in the building again,” Filipowski said after the game, via WNCN’s Jordan Crammer.

Instead of venting about Pitt’s celebration, Scheyer used his postgame media availability to apologize to Duke fans for letting the underdog Panthers win in the first place.

“I want to apologize to our fans,” Scheyer said, via Blue Devil Country. “What happened at the end, that can’t happen. That’s on us. And that’s unacceptable. So, for us, we have to watch the game, learn from it, move on quickly—we go on the road in a day and a half—and learn from it, because that’s not O.K. with me what happened tonight.”

The Blue Devils dropped to 13–4 overall and 4–2 in ACC play. Pitt improved to 11–7 overall and 2–5 in conference.
